Each personal computer or server is run by an Operating System - the low-level software which interacts with the hardware, including peripheral devices such as a mouse or a printer, along with any apps that are present on the system. Any program input using a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, every single app runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, and so on. This goes for both standard site scripts and server-side software like a media server. When a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, named guest OS and host OS, so that you will be able to set up a different software environment on a single machine.

Multiple OS in VPS

We provide three different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the safest and the most reliable OSs on the market and we supply all three instead of only 1 as we realize that you may want to set up some software which has specific requirements with regards to the Operating System it shall run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there're different software programs you may install on the server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be installed on the VPS in case you would like to use one and because of this we offer several Control Panels as well. In case you decide that you need a different OS, our tech support team can quickly wipe the current one and set up the one that you want. In addition, we offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting

The dedicated server plans that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to pick from. They are all Linux distributions - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they’re also regarded as the most stable and safe OSs. We supply three different ones for the reason that each one of them is supported by a different community. The packages that you could add on your web server are different and this could matter if you need to install some piece of software with specific requirements about the hosting environment. In this light, the internet hosting Control Panel which you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the OS that you will select. You may choose any of the three Operating Systems during the order procedure, however if needed, we can always install the server once again with another one upon your request. As an optional service that you may add to the plan whenever you want, we can update the OS regularly so as to keep it as secure as possible.
